SCS promotes the concept that technicians understand the reasons behind their actions when they are using a given technical skill.  In other words – when you understand the theory behind a particular technique, then learning how to do it becomes easier and a lasting part of your rigging/rescue repertoire.  A true rope rescue technician must be able to think on his or her feet, and possess sufficient rigging theory to adapt to any given situation and still play within the laws of physics.

We feel rescue teams should be light, efficient, competent and safe.  Bigger is not always better.  SCS believes that rescue systems should be constructed in accordance to the equipment manufacture’s recommendations and maintain a true 10:1 safety margin based on accurate load calculations that includes friction coefficient analysis of the edge.  SCS supports continued research and development on getting best equipment and training on the market, and the pursuit of quality training at a significantly higher skill level than what you would expect to use during one of your actual rescues.  SCS is committed to excellence.
