Instructor Development Program
Instructor Development Program
The completion of this program is a requirement of all instructors contracted through RescueRig. This program may also apply to any RescueRig/Michigan State University certified rope rescue technician who wishes to instruct for any school or agency. RescueRig does not hold its contracted instructors to an exclusive agreement. RescueRig encourages their contract instructors to work as much as possible with their rescue agency and other quality schools of rescue.
This is a two stage program to obtain the level of Lead Rope Rescue Technician Instructor:
Apprentice
Associate
Apprentice Requirements
Rope Rescue Technician certified through RescueRig and/or Michigan State University
Tuition $1860.00
Associate Instructor Requirements
Assist in three complete Rope Technician series; Segment 1 – Technical Rope Systems; Segment 2 – Analytical Concepts for Rope Rescue; Segment 3 – Rope Rescue Technician. Contract courses may be substituted for the Rope Technician series with approval of the sponsoring RescueRig regional senior instructor or higher.
Complete the Associate Instructor Training Packet.
Complete the Associate Instructor written exam with a grade of no less than 90% correct answers.
Lead Instructor Requirements
Complete the Associate Instructor requirements.
Assist in two additional Rope Technician series; Segment 1 – Technical Rope Systems; Segment 2 – Analytical Concepts for Rope Rescue; Segment 3 – Rope Rescue Technician. Contract courses may be substituted for the Rope Technician series with approval of the sponsoring RescueRig regional senior instructor or higher.
Complete the lead Instructor Training Packet.
Only RescueRig courses and seminars will meet the course assistance requirements for Associate Instructor level and Lead Instructor level.
The required courses an apprentice instructor must participate in as stated above in the Associate requirements are included in the tuition.
Associate instructors that are assisting in courses that meet the lead instructor requirements may be paid in accordance to the RescueRig Instructor SOPs. Associate instructors may also volunteer in a course that does not warrant instructor pay in order to meet the teaching requirements as stated above.
